Author Guidelines

Thank you for considering Journal of Law, Artificial Intelligence and Society (JLAIS) for your work. JLAIS publishes original research articles, review articles and scholarly commentary on the intersection of artificial intelligence with law, governance and society. Please read these guidelines before submitting.

Manuscript types & length

• Research articles: typically 5,000–10,000 words, including references.
• Review articles: comprehensive, well-structured surveys of a defined topic.
• Commentary / perspectives: concise, argument-driven pieces, typically 2,000–4,000 words.

Preparation

• Submit in an editable format (e.g. .docx or .rtf). Use a clear structure with an abstract (150–250 words) and 4–6 keywords.
• Reference style should be consistent and complete; APA (7th ed.) is recommended unless your subfield expects another standard.
• For double-anonymous review, upload an anonymised manuscript with author-identifying information removed from the text and file properties; enter author details only in the submission system.
• Tables and figures should be numbered, captioned and referenced in the text; supply figures at adequate resolution.

Ethics, originality & AI disclosure

Submissions must be original and not under review elsewhere, and must comply with our Publication Ethics and Plagiarism policies. Any use of generative-AI tools must be disclosed. By submitting, authors agree to the CC BY 4.0 licensing terms.
